Why Sub Tier Matters More Than Sub Count
A Tier 3 subscriber is worth exactly 5x a Tier 1 subscriber ($24.99 vs $4.99), but most streamers focus purely on growing total sub count rather than upgrading existing subs to higher tiers. Twenty Tier 1 subs generate the same revenue as four Tier 3 subs — but Tier 3 subs tend to come from your most engaged, highest-retention viewers, so they're often more stable month to month.
The 70/30 split is legacy-only. Twitch stopped offering new 70/30 partner deals in 2023. If you're not sure which split applies to you, check your Partner or Affiliate agreement — most streamers today are on the standard 50/50 split regardless of partner status.
Revenue Per Sub, By Tier and Split
| Tier | Price | Your Cut (50/50) | Your Cut (70/30) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | $4.99 | $2.50 | $3.49 |
| Tier 2 | $9.99 | $5.00 | $7.00 |
| Tier 3 | $24.99 | $12.50 | $17.49 |
